Hey! I’m Kim:)
I grew up in Atlanta, GA and always had a thirst for life. I was brought up in an athletic family so sports came naturally to me.
Growing up, food was never an issue for me. I just ate when I was hungry and stopped when I was full. No biggie.
It wasn’t until I went away to college and gained the “freshman 15” that things became a problem.
I came home and told my mom I was ready to workout with a trainer to get back in shape. I remember him telling me I could only eat 5 foods to stay lean and I had to be fully committed to get in shape.
I never understood what binge eating looked like until I followed this diet plan. I’d eat “clean” during the week like he told me to, only to binge on the weekend because I was so hungry. I’d walk in the gym Monday morning and he’d say, “You ate too much, you’ve gained weight.”
That was the catalyst to my eating disorder and for the next 10 years I was in and out of 7 treatment centers for depression, aneroxia, binge eating and anxiety.
It wasn’t until my last treatment at the age of 32 that I had enough. I was finally ready to get better and take control of my life.
Even though I got my ED under control, I was having major weight gain, fatigue, insomnia, brain fog and bloating. I went to doctor after doctor only for them to tell me I was fine and it was all in my head.
I knew I had to take my health into my own hands to get better. I spent hours upon hours researching, talking to peers and finding doctors who would finally listen to me and take my issues seriously.
After finding a functional medicine doctor who really got to the root of my issues, I finally started seeing the light.
I had hypothyroidism which kept my depression elevated.
I had several hormonal imbalances which fueled my anxiety and weight gain.
Once I was stable and healthy, I knew I wasn’t the only one suffering with this stuff so I was on a mission to help as many women as possible so they would not have to suffer like I did.
There have been many ups and downs, life twists and turns but at the age of 41, I’m happy to say I’m thriving and living my best life.
I’m here to tell you, you can have whatever you want. You are deserving of everything your heart desires and more.
