Here are 5 common digestive issues I see with my clients.
💠Food Intolerances: Remember, food allergies and food intolerances are 2 totally different things. Allergy you notice right away (swelling of throat, rashes, etc.) an intolerance is delayed (can take 30 minutes to 3 days). The best way to know? Do an elimination diet where you cut out certain foods for a certain amount of time.
💠Parasites: Parasites are often overlooked when it comes to digestive problems. Traveled overseas within the last few years? Dealing with chronic digestive, skin, and mental health issues? Did you know 30% of us are hosts to parasites? Crazy right? You can even get them from sushi.
💠Low Stomach Acid: Had/have an eating disorder? You might have low stomach acid. Most docs give you anti-acid meds but the root issue is low stomach acid, not excessive stomach acid. Your stomach acid is essential in breaking down nutrients and absorption of trace minerals: copper, mag, calcium, zinc, selenium, B’s, etc. Many women I work with don’t absorb their nutrients because of low SA, and possible candida. 💠Candida: This one is a bitch. Candida strands are normal in the body (yeast) but too much is a problem. Candida = brain fog, sugar cravings, thrush, digestive issues, etc. Estrogen dominance can fuel candida if you have a weak immune system, and can creep in if your system is struggling to digest food (eggs, gluten and dairy). Just pay attention to your symptoms, if you’re itching your butthole a lot (ha, yes), have a white coated tongue, feel fatigued and bloated a lot you might have candida. Over 80% of my female clients have Candida. And just so you know, you cannot heal it from diet alone, there are supplements and sometimes medications involved too.
Here’s a quick Candida Test You Can Do From Home
Here’s how it works: Do not eat any dairy 2 days before you do the test. Place a glass of water next to your bed before you go to sleep. When you wake up and before you eat, drink or brush your teeth, build up a large spit ball in your mouth and spit into the glass.
Wait about 20 minutes and what do you see? If your saliva develops “legs”, suspends cloudy specks or sinks to the bottom you might have Candida.
The longer the legs, and the faster the saliva sinks to the bottom of the glass the higher amount of yeast you have in your system.
